Mulch Films
Getting the most out of mulch
At Tosaf, we have developed a range of products that address the key requirements of an effective mulch: high opacity, low cost, mechanical strength and defined UV stability. Whether your mulch is to be used to adjust growing seasons, improve yields, reduce water consumption or minimize use of fumigants, the R&D team at our state-of-the-art production facility will recommend the most suitable combination of color, UV and IR masterbatch for your specific needs.
High chemical resistance UV MB
Silver mulch film and mulch film for fumigation are vulnerable to UV radiation, adverse reaction with fumigants and accelerated degradation caused by aluminum paste in the silver color itself. Our unique UV MB does not react with fumigants, and neutralizes the negative effect silver MB can have on the polymer.
Barrier MB
Regulations are increasingly addressing the health risk to farmers when they apply fumigants to the soil. Standard polymers, which are permeable to fumigants, can be protected by barrier film. Our PE-compatible barrier MB can be produced in a 3-layer extruder, requiring no tie layer.
Color MB
The color of the mulch film determines its optical properties. We have developed a wide product range, covering colors to suit any need.
Our Solutions
UV
UV for Mulch Films
Choosing the right UV package is the most important parameter determining the film’s service life. We will recommend the most cost-effective solution from our extensive range of UV MB for each climate zone, color, life expectancy and growing method.
Highlights
-
Cost-effective
-
Long-term polymer protection
-
Wide product range, covering colors to suit any need
-
Exclusive UV for extreme conditions

Silver for Mulch Films
Silver mulch increases photosynthesis in the lower leaves of a crop, which are usually shadowed by upper leaves, by reflecting sunlight towards them. Reflecting more UV light than visible light, our silver color is used for crops that need UV light for color formation, and to repel insects that use the UV light for navigation.
Highlights
-
Enhances UV light for color formation
-
Repels insects that use the UV light for navigation
-
Increases photosynthesis in the lower leaves of the crop

Green and Brown for Mulch Films
Brown and green are a photo-selective colors that block light in the PAR to eliminate weeds, while transferring light in the NIR to heat the soil. Tosaf’s brown and green colors have unique optical characteristics designed especially for agricultural applications.
Highlights
-
Unique optical characteristics
-
Specially designed for the mulch applications
-
Blocks light in PAR, transfers light in NIR

Yellow for Mulch Films
Insects are attracted to the color yellow. Tosaf’s yellow masterbatch for mulch film diverts insects from the plants themselves, protecting crops from the viruses they may carry, in particular in open field crop production.
Highlights
-
Protect crops from virus-carrying insects
-
Attracts virus-carrying insects to the film
-
Prevents the growth of weed

White for Mulch Films
White mulch increases photosynthesis in the lower leaves of the crop, which are usually shadowed by upper leaves, by reflecting sunlight towards them. Our white color reflects more visible light than UV light, making it suitable for use with orchards and leafy crops, or when soil temperatures needs to be cooled down.
Highlights
-
Increases photosynthesis in the lower leaves of the crop
-
Reflects more visible light than UV light
-
Suitable for use with orchards and leafy crops
BK
Black for Mulch Films
Black is the most common color for mulch film, because it absorbs the entire light spectrum: PAR to eliminate weeds, and NIR to cool the soil. We use the highest quality carbon black, which also increases the light stability of the film.
Highlights
-
Absorbs entire light spectrum
-
Highest quality carbon black
-
Increases light stability of film
